JESSE
Astute Build Director
Jesse is a father of two, and married to interior designer, Kate. Expect home design and architecture conversation if you invite them over for dinner!
Jesse is a Licensed Building Practitioner (LBP) in carpentry, Site 2, and has studied horticultural science specialising in Sustainability.
He learnt his trade in residential and light commercial construction around Central Auckland, specialising in additions and significant-sized renovations. He has wide knowledge of general construction and the New Zealand building code.
Jesse lived in London for five years where he worked for an acclaimed high-end residential developer. Upon returning to New Zealand he worked as a site manager for well-known commercial company before going on to form Astute Build.
Jesse applies the skills developed from both residential and commercial construction sectors to the Astute Build business model.
MATT
Astute Build Director
Matt is a father of two, and married to fashion designer, Victoria. They moved back to New Zealand in 2015 after living in Sydney for eight years.
Matt is BCITO trained and experienced in architectural homes, high-end residential renovations and restorations, and complex builds.
In Sydney, he worked as a site foreman for a boutique builder specialising in bespoke one-off architectural homes. This specialised experience enabled him to learn a vast range of construction techniques whilst using a wide variety of building materials.
Also in Sydney, he worked on traditional Victorian and Federation buildings that require an understanding of traditional building methods and commercial fit-outs and demolition projects.
Back in New Zealand, Matt worked in Central Auckland on Villa and Bungalow renovations which helped him hone his attention to detail and further his knowledge of New Zealand's colonial and traditional finishing.
Matt loves the everyday challenges of the building sector, whilst meeting new people and creating new spaces for Astute Build's clients.
DARYL
Full-time Astute Build Carpenter and Leading Hand
Daryl is a qualified Landscape Architect, and has great experience and knowledge in Landscaping. He joined Astute Build in May 2016, but has worked alongside Jesse in the past where, they worked together on a number of projects in London.
Daryl has nine years experience in the residential building industry, is an excellent problem solver, ideas man and has exceptional finishing skills.
APPRENTICESHIP
Part of our commitment to building a team is passing on skills through our apprenticeship programme and it's great to take on guys with drive and a thirst for knowledge.
Currently, we have three apprentices at various stages of their training. They are all great young guys, good value on site and fine ambassadors of our brand.
